Dr. Frank GibsonDirector of Product Development

Dr. Gibson joined Cornerstone in 2008 to assist in the development of novel therapies for the treatment of a wide variety of cancers. He is responsible for managing the scale up and production of CPI-613 drug substance and drug product, as well as EmPac and other Emulsiphan-related products.

Dr. Gibson has 16 years of process and product development experience in the pharmaceutical industry working primarily with oncology and cardiovascular drugs.  This work has involved all stages of process development from early route scouting to full-scale commercial production.  During his career he has been involved with developing the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients as well as final drug products, for both oral and parenteral administration. Dr. Gibson has had the opportunity to make important contributions to the development of several critical oncology drugs including Paclitaxel, Etoposide, and a new VEGFR compound currently in clinical trials. He was the recipient of the President’s Award from Bristol-Myers Squibb for manufacturing process improvements he made to ACE-NEP inhibiting cardiovascular drug, Vanlev.

Dr. Gibson holds a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Rutgers University, and did a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of California at Berkeley.
